Prof. Donglai Feng obtained his BS(1994) and MS(1996) degree in plasma physics at USTC, China, and PhD (2001) degree in experimental condensed matter physics at Stanford University, where he studied cuprate high temperature superconductors under the guidance of Prof. Z. X. Shen. He worked in UBC, Canada for his postdoc research on resonant soft X-ray scattering of correlated materials in the group of Prof. G. A. Sawatzky.

Prof. Feng works at Fudan university from 2004. He is currently the Hao-qin chair professor of physics of Fudan university, and the director of the state key laboratory of surface physics. He has published over 100 papers, including 13 in Science/Nature+sub-journals, and 25 in PRL/PRX, which are cited for more than 4600 times. His current research interests are focused on complex quantum materials and their microstructures, including high-temperature superconductors, Mott insulators, magnetic materials, low dimensional systems, etc. To search for and understand novel materials, his group is developing many technologies, including oxide MBE, high-resolution spectroscopies and synchrotron based instruments.
